GRADE II 15TH C BARN

WINDSOR

This 15th century barn was in a complete state of disrepair and the owners wanted to make the most of their stake in agricultural history. The Barn was protected as a grade II listed building which meant that the Tailormade team were unable to dismantle the structure during this project. The main challenge was to repair all of the timbers whilst keeping the entire structure in place.

We propped the barn up and replaced all rotten timbers using only the best quality materials. We also worked with the period of the building and used traditional joints such as scalf, splice and sissor undertaking extensive restoration and repair on the entire barn in situ.

Working closely with the conservation officer for the project, the Tailormade Team made every effort possible to keep all salvageable timbers and the total completion included new weather boarding, thatch roof and all internal works.
