LOFT CONVERSION

WOODCOTE, READING

The Tailormade team were asked to undertake this general build project to introduce a much needed third bedroom. The client was keen to keep costs to an absolute minimum and so Jon worked on a solution to keep the costs of the build down without sacrificing quality.

As a cost effective solution, Jon decided not to use steel beams in the build, instead using a mixture of timber and plywood which provided not only a crucial structural role but also doubled up as a storage cupboard area. There was no requirement to remove part of the roof for steel beams and the solution was passed and approved by building control.

Making the most of the space they had to utilise, the Tailormade team took just 700mm from the second bedroom for the staircase up to the loft and the under stair space left was used for a convenient study area.
